National Weather Service forecasts issued late Tuesday predicted Hurricane Ike would go ashore as a major storm late Friday or early Saturday, but well south of Galveston County.
Those same forecasts called for a northward turn in the storm’s path Friday afternoon, however. Exactly when and how sharply Ike turns will determine how near it makes landfall.
The KEY is this: The forecasts called for a northward turn in the storm’s path Friday afternoon, however. Exactly when and how sharply Ike turns will determine how near it makes landfall.
I find that not calling an evacuation of at least the coastal area is unacceptable and should be called immediately.
