At the last City Council meeting held in Nederland, Texas a grandmother, Mrs. Shirley LeDoux, brought up a concern that she has regarding sex offenders living within the City of Nederland, Texas. In that Council meeting she asked the Council to consider researching an ordianance that would regulate where sex offenders could live within the city limits of Nederland. The areas that the council could regulate would be called "child safety zones" and would prohibit and registerd sex offender from living within 1,000 feet anywhere children gather. Currently there are two other cities in Texas, Angelton and Liberty that have such an ordianance. In the last City Council meeting the council voted to allow Andre' Wimer, Nederland City Manager to research an ordianance.
