Nederland: We Have a Problem
by
Many citizens are concerned about response time by emergency responders in north Nederland. I have decided to take this issue to our leaders.
To our Nederland leaders:
It's time to do what is best for the citizens. As leaders, it is your responsibility to make sure that emergency response time from Boston Avenue to our northern city limits (the highway 69 and parkway village area) is adequate and on time. It's a NINE MINUTE drive for an engine to respond from Boston Avenue to the above mentioned area. With developers seeking to locate in Nederland and local developers wishing for annexation to Nederland this issue becomes front and center. Developers will take this issue seriously as they want their businesses protected. As with all issues, this problem does not stop with one department. As leaders in the community, we must listen to the citizens and then act because they are watching us!
How do you fix this?
Build another station. Better yet. Make it a substation for both the Fire and Police Departments. If the issue is money bring it to the voters. Let us decide! If the problem is land; build it where the so called mall was or annex some land.
Somebody speak up! Be a leader! Represent the future of Nederland!
