Local FD under attack

A P.A.F.D. Station to close!
By

So, it's a tale of a city trying to save money at the cost of lives. In a recent phone call that I placed to the City of Port Arthur I was told that 4 weeks ago the council authorized a company to review all stations. Council voted to approve the company and the review and now the "rumor" is that Station 6 will be closed. Port Arthur City Council will vote "sometime in August as to what the report concludes."

It's a city that need to save money...so the council is "thinking" about closing a station? huh? Money over lives. I just don't get it. Political office over citizens need.

On one hand we have one city (Nederland) who can't afford more personnel for another station then we have another city (Port Arthur) who is trying to save money by closing a station down.

Response time goes up = lives are lost (I hope not)

When will our leaders choose to save a life over money?
