Report
CURRENT SITUATION:
The next 24-36 hours is critical for determination if Ike strikes either the
UPPER or LOWER Texas Coast. As Ike emerges into the Gulf early Tuesday morning and through the day Tuesday, it may or may not be impacted by a weather “trough” that is building over the central United States. This “trough” can pull Ike back to the NORTH-NORTHWEST in which case there will be a higher probability of an UPPER Texas Coast Strike. If the “trough” does not impact, then scenarios call for a CENTRAL or SOUTHERN Coast Strike.
Bottom-line: Track is unknown at this time. Given the uncertainty of strike location, Texas has commenced preparations for the maximum evacuation of the Texas Coast.
