FRISCO, Texas - The Southland Conference, KFDM Television and Time Warner Cable in Beaumont, Texas, have agreed to have the broadcast station provide the new Southland Conference Television Network programming on Time Warner Cable, Channel 35, in the Beaumont-Port Arthur area, league and station officials announced Monday.

"The addition of KFDM and Time Warner Cable in the southeast Texas area is key to the success of the Southland Television Network," league commissioner Tom Burnett said. "Many of our student-athletes come from the area, and our alumni presence there is very strong. We appreciate the interest shown by Larry Beaulieu and KFDM and Time Warner Cable."

Time Warner will carry all 36 telecasts of the league's in-house television offering, including nine football games, 16 basketball games and a monthly magazine show, "Inside the Southland Conference," which debuts this month. "Inside the Southland Conference" will also air on KFDM's broadcast station (Ch. 6).

"Southeast Texans love their sports, so we are very excited about partnering with Time Warner to bring the Southland Conference Network to viewers in the Beaumont, Port Arthur, Orange market," Beaulieu, KFDM's general manager, said. "Being home to Lamar University means viewers here are already very familiar with the conference. Lamar University has already begun the process of bringing football back and that has fans excited.

"KFDM has broadcast many Southland Conference basketball games involving Lamar for more than 25 years and we're glad to extend the visibility of the conference in this market."

The first football game on the Southland Conference Television Network will be Saturday at 2 p.m. when Grambling State visits Northwestern State.

KFDM/Time Warner becomes the eighth station to join the Southland Conference Network. Please visit southland.org for a complete list of network affiliates. The Southland expects to announce additional affiliate agreements in the coming weeks.
