Hurricane Ike track forecast continues to evolve

As weather conditions fluctuate, Hurricane Ike's projected path has wobbled back to the east to include Southeast Texas.
Early today, National Hurricane Center forecast models showed a cone of probability extending about as far as Galveston.
But by the 10 a.m. update, the track had shifted north again with the cone including the entire upper Texas coast as well as a slice of Southwestern Louisiana.
At 10 a.m., Ike was headed northwest about 13 mph crossing Cuba, about 982 miles from Galveston.
Ike had weakened since Monday, downgraded to a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds near 80 mph.
The storm could weaken further on its pass over Cuba, but is expected to gain strength again once it heads into the Gulf of Mexico.
