Beaumont Enterprise: Rising water threatening homes in Port Arthur

Water lapped at foundations of homes along the east end of Procter Street from Stadium Drive to Fourth Avenue Saturday morning.

Hurricane Ike hit land this morning just south of Galveston but sent surging waters and rain out 200 miles.

Also, five homes in Port Arthur near Ninth Street and Stilwell Boulevard had burned to the ground by Saturday morning.

The area was under an evacuation order for Hurricane Ike and no injuries were reported.
There were damaged roofs and other house and car damage from Ike’s wind and rains.

There underpass at Memorial Boulevard at the railroad tracks was flooded.
