Statement released to the Media

I am very disappointed at the outcome of tonight’s appointment to fill the Ward I seat. I was hopeful that the Nederland City Council would look to others, whom could bring another perspective to the council. I was nominated to fill the vacated seat along with Mr. Sawyer.

Tonight, the council decided to rewind history and select a person {Mr. Sawyer} who has already served at least 30 years on the Nederland City Council and/or other boards within the City.

The council did not appoint a person who the citizens wanted. The council appointed a person who they wanted.

In closing, I believe, in order to effectively move a city forward there must be a fresh perspective.
