Resign?

Resign?
By
Jeffrey J. Ortiz

Two former elected officials are asking Carolyn Guidry to resign.

KFDM – TV reported that the brothers are angry with Mrs. Guidry over a few things:

•handling of the May 13th Port Arthur school board election that resulted in a recount
•believe the electronic voting machines malfunctioned
and they say Guidry did not provide help to voters
•"The removal and destruction of public records, that's a major issue."
•The brothers also claim they've also heard complaints that Guidry mistreats her employees

Someone close to the brothers told me that they are citing the Local Government Code, Chapter 87.

The chapter covers a broad range of topics. Feel free to read it.
If Mrs. Guidry has violated anything in that Chapter, resign! If not, go on with representing the citizens.

Mrs. Guidry faces opposition in November from Rhonda Dugas as a write in candidate.

I have always said it is the citizen’s job to hold elected officials accountable to their elected position. Why do you think politics is so corrupt? There is hardly anyone who will step up, go to meetings and tell the officials what you think.

It’s time to speak up!
