Beaumont Enterprise: Roadblock Update

Jefferson County:

The Texas Department of Public Safety does not have any active roadblocks for Jefferson County. On September 13, 2008, at 9:00 pm, County Judge Ron Walker advised The Texas Department of Public Safety to remove roadblocks throughout the county. As per orders from county officials, the roadblocks were removed by the Department. This agency is still urging motorist to remain at their evacuation locations, because there is still a mandatory evacuation notice in place for Jefferson County.

Orange County:

Orange County is still under a mandatory evacuation notice and entry into this county is discouraged. Any roadblocks or barricades on the roadways are due to high water or debris on the roadway. As of 10:00 am this date, Sergeant Frye, DPS-Orange, stated that there is no entry into Bridge City including those who have HOLOGRAMS. Questions should be addressed to Bridge City Officials.

Hardin County:

Citizens are being allowed into this county per Hardin County Sheriff’s Office. The Texas Department of Public Safety has no active roadblocks for this county.

Jasper County:

Citizens are being allowed into this county and The Texas Department of Public Safety has no active roadblocks for this county.
Tyler County:

The Texas Department of Public Safety has active roadblocks in Tyler. State Troopers are assigned to roadblocks at the following locations:
US 190 EAST AND WEST
HWY 287 IN CHESTER
US 69 NORTH AT FM 255
(NEAR ROCKLAND)


For all other counties, the evacuation orders still remain in effect and re-entry will be discouraged until those orders are suspended.


As of 2:00 p.m., this date, State Troopers are blocking the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge into Bridge City due to flooding and high water. This message is by the authority of Lt. McDaniel.

As of 2:00 p.m., this date, State Troopers were removed from roadblocks in the City of Port Arthur per authority of Lt. McDaniel.
