According to the PANEWS, Early voting results revealed Thomas leading Henderson by a total of 41 votes. Thomas garnered 538 votes and Henderson 497.
A tabulation taken with all but two ballot boxes; Sabine Pass and Memorial Ninth Grade Center, brought the candidates within 10 votes of each other. Six votes were cast in Sabine Pass while 26 votes were cast at the Ninth Grade Center on Election Day.
