Some quotes of interest from the Port Arthur NEWS:

  • The draft includes what organizers call Phase I, at the estimated $114 million, and Phase II, which includes other needed work for a future bond election.

  • Phase I projects include major modernization of the main building at the high school, thus creating a more efficient use of gross square footage, three new elementary schools, a game day dressing room for athletics, press box, turf for the football field, acquisition of land to possibly be used for a pool, “gymatorium” and air conditioning for the gym and locker spaces for C.O. Wilson Middle School and minor renovations to Central Middle School.

  • Phase II of the Master Plan totals approximately $90 million and calls for the construction of two new middle schools, an administration building and athletic needs.
