On, April 29, 2007 my Grandmother was assaulted and robbed at Central Mall. The assault happened just before the Target entrance between Steve and Barry's and the old maternity retail store. You can read my previous post from May 23rd for more information on that incident.
I would like to talk about some changes that have or that have not been made. Whichever one you would like to believe.
There still has not been any drastic measures taken to secure shoppers in the mall. Drastic as in, installing surveillance cameras, opening a police substation, etc. I brought up both ideas in a meeting one year ago, and pretty much was told that wasn't going to happen. I guess the safety of the customers is not in the best interest of upper management.
Today, I still here some of the same problems that have been going on forever. When will enough be enough?
I completely understand that crime is everywhere. But I believe malls across the nation should have mandatory surveillance cameras inside and out.
Have they caught my grandmothers attacker? Of course not. Do I think they will? No, I don't think they will.
As most of you know, my Grandmother passed away earlier this year. She lived a great life of 82 years. One of the greatest testimonies my grandmother had was that she got up a few days later and did her normal walk through the mall after the incident. She was a strong woman and didn't let anything hold her back.
