I don't know if you read the story that operation kleinwatch wrote titled "Any comment, Buddy?... If not, you should.
Let me say this in regards to that posting. I sat and went through at least 2 boxes of information in regards to that investigation and I can honestly say that yes Mr. Klein's investigation company was the company that the NVFD chose to conduct the investigation of the account, etc. That was their (NVFD) choice. The council decided to go with Mr. Clawson. Whoever that is.
All the information I read is "open records" and can be requested through the City of Nederland.
Mr. Klein wrote about a story I wrote years ago concerning his old Fire Chief. Mr. Klein stated the following...
"As for Ortiz...he tried for political heyday and had the support of the firefighters until he pulled that boner. And then....he lost the election. He tried to ride a dead political horse. A novice mistake."
My Comments:
"...he tried for political heyday and had the support of the firefighters until he pulled that boner...
First off, let's get one thing straight. At the time of my 2005 bid for City Council, I can count on ONE hand how many actual fire fighters could vote in the City of Nederland Election and that certainly wouldn't stir the election one way or another.
"...And then....he lost the election.
No I didn't lose the 2005 election cause I spoke about the decision. I lost cause the Good ole' boy system is in control. Again, I can count on one hand how many actual fire fighters were actually citizens of this city.
"...He tried to ride a dead political horse. A novice mistake....
So, who was/is/were the dead political horse?????
The problem in Nederland is simple. Most elected leaders in this city does not want to help move Nederland in a new direction. It was evident when the Council chose to appoint Mr. Sawyer after a former council member resigned.
This city will never move to a new level of leadership until we as voters recognize that the city government is broken.
As I speak to City employees, each of them tell me how bad they want new faces on the council. The problem is that these employees are too scared to speak out for candidates who run against the system. Do I blame them? Hell no.
This year will bring another election. We will have a chance vote in races for the following offices: Mayor, Ward 2 and 4 seats. If someone decides to run against the system.
Is 2008 going to bring us a new face on the council? I doubt it. Would I like for a new face to be elected? Ohhhhhh yess!
I have followed Nederland politics for years and the pattern continues every time there is an election. The system wins everytime.

Jeff, if I had to choose between you or Klein on Chief Lovelady facts. It is YOU!
Do you know if Klein Investigations charged Nederland VFD for Klein's services?
