JEFFERSON COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY ENCOURAGES CITIZENS TO VOTE

Beaumont- The Jefferson County Republican Party urges ALL eligible voters to cast ballots on Tuesday, November 7th, 2006.

"We encourage all voters in Jefferson County to get out and vote using the new electronic voting equipment. While we have heard a few reports in the media of difficulties with some electronic voting systems, we believe these problems to be rare and possibly related to user selection error, rather than problems internally with the equipment. NO problems have been directly communicated to me. I have been personally trained as an election judge on the ES&S iVotronic electronic voting equipment, and believe this system to be the best option for voting in Jefferson County, during this election cycle. Voting on the electronic equipment is quick, easy, and secure. ALL votes on the iVotronic system REQUIRE review prior to the ballot being cast, SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCING the risk of voting error. In addition, the electronic system seems to be the least prone to election fraud." said Jefferson County Republican Party Chairman Doug Conner.

Conner went further to say, "Over the past year I have had nothing but positive experiences with county employees in the elections and voter registration divisions of both the Jefferson County Clerks Office and Jefferson County Tax Assessors Office. I have confidence in the employees in the Elections Department and anticipate a well run and trouble free election."
