High Speed Chase

High Speed Chase
by

On June 15, 2006 a police chase that started in Port Arthur, Tx at the Jefferson City Shopping Center ended at the corner of 14th street and Helena Avenue in Nederland, Tx. For the record, the person or persons who was being chased was not affiliated with any gang. Ones may report other wise. The suspect was captured and is facing justice

Response from Police Chief Darrel Bush - Nederland, Texas:
"...there are chases that occur in Nederland, Pt. Neches, Groves, and all over the world that people never hear of because they end without a traffic accident. Every vehicle chase does not end in a traffic accident. Both chases (that have occurred in Nederland) were initiated outside the city of Nederland and were not started here. Police chases are a difficult thing to deal with as far as when to chase and when not to chase. In the chase a couple of months ago that ended tragically, the people being chased had committed 3 armed robberies and had stabbed an individual in the last robbery they committed. In the chase yesterday, the guy had been stopped by DPS in Pt. Arthur, was intoxicated, and was about to be arrested for DWI when he fled the scene....Again, do you let an intoxicated driver drive away and endanger peoples lives? What happens if you don't try to stop him and before he gets home he runs a red light and kills someone or drives into a yard and strikes a child. Aside from the civil problems encountered in this situation, I as a police officer would have trouble living with myself if I knew I had not done everything possible to stop this guy and preventing a needless death.

Due to the HIPPA Law no information will be given in regard to ones who were sent to the hospital.
