Post Mortem

On Saturday, the citizens of Nederland voted for the office of Mayor.

Incumbent Mayor Dick Nugent recieved 731 votes followed by Mike Lovelady’s 349 votes and Michael Bordelon’s 23 votes.

In the Port Arthur News, the Mayor stated, “I am just so happy that the voters believed me when I told them how dedicated I am to bringing in new business and improving the quality of life in Nederland.”

In my opinion, there’s a lot to be done within the City of Nederland and bringing in new business should be at the top of the list. Followed by being sure that the morale of the city employees are top notch.

As for me, I’m just going to set back and watch the scenery and learn from all of our elected officials how to improve the quality of life in Nederland.

To all the voters…thanks for participating in democracy.

To the candidates...all of you ran a good campaign. As I know, it takes guts to put your good name out there. Thank you all for your candidacy.
